5 Writer Things I Do

Image
From My Lifeblood ~ Writing I firmly believe this. I have no idea who John Gardner is, but he is a hundred percent correct. If I wasn't a crazy dreamer, I wouldn't write. I would have chosen some other, more stable career. But here I am - crazy as anything and writing all my books. From My Lifeblood ~ Writing Now as a writer, I realize that a lot more than just words goes into my writing process. Some of them are kind of obvious, such as my worldview and the books/movies I enjoy. Some, however, are bit more unusual. For today's post, I'm just rounding up some of the ones I've come to recognize. I hope to update this train of thought as I spot more and to encourage y'all to discover weird writer things in your own lives. I Date Everything:  And when I say everything , I mean EVERYTHING . From bullet journal entries to story ideas, I write the date for just about anything I do. This partly for copyright purposes and partly for my o

Right Now

Via Pinterest And that's where I am right now. Work-craziness is kicking in, and that's never fun. Take my advice, y'all, don't work in retail unless you have to. But enough whining. On to the post. What I'm Reading: Via Google  I love Robin McKinley's books, and this one was no exception. Harry has just arrived in a strange country, and she feels out of place. She loves the desert and isn't exactly unhappy, but she is restless and can't say why. From her brother's colonel, she hears wisps of stories about the Hill-folk and their fabulous horses. The stories aren't much, but they captivate her like nothing else. An excellent book. I rate it ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. I usually don't rate above four stars, so trust me and go read it. You can also check out  my review of Goodreads  if you need more convincing. Anybody whose already read it, who's your fave character? I love Corlath. What I'm Writing:

Cold Air

Cold air to the face Stumble back to reality Why'd you wake me from all the dreams inside of me? Sitting here wondering "What's the the point anyway?" Can't see the stars for the vapors you're spitting on me. You call me a dreamer And I would agree with you But what I really want to know is: "If this is your reality, why'd you stop me dreaming?"

Why I Write

Via Pinterest Hope y'all have had a decent Monday. Just remember: if you can survive Monday, you can survive anything. (Whoa, now there's  a real mood . Can I get a witness?) Via Pinterest I adore this quote. It summons up why I write so well. It's the essence of why I tell stories and create worlds. If my soul was etched with words I love, these would be there. Can we dwell here for a moment. Does anyone have to tell you that there are things in the world that should terrify you? No, we all learn this instinctively -  huddled in blankets from the monster under the bed. But it takes a loved one's courage to show us that the monster is only in our imagination. And that's books. Books tell us that the impossible can be done, that fears can be beaten, and that foes can be bested. Better still, they tell us that -  no matter how dark it gets -  it can all well. Despite the pain, books whisper, you will be happy again. And that is why I write.

THE DRAGON'S SKIN Blurb

Image
Via Pinterest I've saved a million variations of this.   I really have. Several are Loki ('cause he's my boy), but some are different, like this one.... Via Pinterest But wait there's more! Via Pinterest Three memes. I don't think I can stall anymore. The point of all this is to say.... I listened to them, wrote like crazy, and finished The Dragon's Skin  core draft. *whoop, whoop*   So today, I'm going to try writing its first blurb (that thing on the back of the book). Hopefully, it goes okay. We'll see. ~ Via Pinterest Ciara is back where her life began -  trapped in Crosia Castle. Her father, King Bricius, still hates her, but she's worried about more than that. Aleksander is endanger, and he doesn't even know it. Worse, she has no way to warn him. In Caledonia, Aleksander is determined to complete the Princess Quest. It's the only way he can keep Ciara safe forever. However, Ronan is the only
