Five LORD OF THE RINGS Facts

Image
From "Far Over the Misty Mountains" So one of my guilty little pleasures is reading Middle Earth fanfiction. I don't write it (in traceable form, at least. Inside my head might be a different story.) But as a Tolkienite, I am aware that J.R.R. Tolkien did in fact say that he created Middle Earth as a mythology that he hoped others would add to. From "Far Over the Misty Mountains" Yes, I just justified fanfiction. Yes, I just said that my guilty pleasure isn't actually guilty. Yes, I may have even justified Tauriel's existence (but not her romance with Kili; no one can justify that ).  From "Far Over the Misty Mountains" A quick look through my labels earlier this week revealed that "Marvel" is a label, but I had none related to Tolkien, Lord of the Rings , or even Middle Earth in general. And that's a problem. I love LotR a million times more than anything Marvel related. So we're fixing that today. Lo

THE DRAGON'S SKIN at Present

Image
From "Book, Movies, Coffee, Etc." If this post comes off as weird, just blame it on the fact that I haven't had coffee in two days. I am alive, but I have no idea how. From "The Craziness of Moriah Snell" And that's kinda where I am right now. That's pretty much why I didn't post last week, even though I had it all planned out (thank you, bullet journal!). But I'm back today, and I have last week's post ready for y'all now. From "The Dragon Books" As most of y'all know, I'm actively working on my second book, The Dragon's Skin , which in turn is the sequel to my first book, The Dragons' Stones . And let me just say: Nobody told me that writing a sequel was so dang hard! Sure, I already had my major characters. Sure, I already knew my setting. Sure, I already had most of the groundwork. But making everything work, YEESH!! The characters have to stay true to the last book but also remain

Teaser Tuesday with THE DRAGONS' STONES

Image
From "The Dragon Books" Annnddddd........ We're back for a Teaser Tuesday!!! For anyone who doesn't already know, The Dragons' Stones  is the novel I completed last year. It's synopsis is  "Princess Ciara must retrieve the fabled Dragons' Stones or face life imprisonment. Aleksander hopes that by helping her with this quest, he will make peace with regrets from his past." From "The Dragon Books" No, I'm not going to tell y'all why this prompt fits into The Dragons' Stones . Just know that applies.  Now, it's time for the teaser. Today, it's from Ciara's perspective. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I paused below a window as worry rolled down my shoulders to the ground. I knew. I remembered. I sighed with relief and kept moving until I was out of the village. Beyond it grew a forest. I marched between the trees. The wind hissed among their leaves, and then I

Bullet Journaling for Writers

Image
From "The Craziness of Moriah Snell" Okay, can we all just take a minute to appreciate the truth of this? Raise your hand if you've ever bought any of the things listed above, thinking "now I can get organized". Personally, my hand is way up. From "Life Truths" But my bullet journal makes it easier. I bought my bullet journal (or bujo) about eight months ago, I think. I admit, I didn't really know much about them at the time. At first, it was mostly to-do lists and that kind of thing. But in October, I watched a few videos on how others use their bujos. Now mine is one of the greatest things in my day-to-day life as a writer. From "Bullet Journal Inspiration" So the core of most bujos is the monthly spread - basically a calendar that tracks that month's events and responsibilities. How do I use that as a writer? When I set up my monthly spread, I purposely include days for writing and days for platform

Unofficial Post

From "Books, Movies, Coffee, Etc." Anybody else feel this meme? No? It can't just be me. Anybody at all? From "The Craziness of Moriah Snell" That's my philosophy, and I'm sticking to it. So right now, I'm pro-actively working on two things: 1. HYDRATION. Really, it's harder than I thought it would be. Maybe because it doesn't come with a five step plan. But I'm doing my best and reminding myself that it's a form of self-love (but that's a topic for another post). 2. RENEWAL. This is my word for 2020, and I am trying to focus on it. Parts of it are things like hydration. Others are taking time. In the mornings before I even get out of bed, I stop and tell God three things I'm grateful for. Today's were my bullet journal, the sound of falling rain, and yesterday's writing. WHAT I JUST READ: Via Goodreads  If you've ever read any of Andrew Clements' books, this one is similar. Set in

WIP LADY BLOODHAWK Background

Image
From "Lady Bloodhawk" I love this picture. It both relates to my life and to this post's topic. I know I talk a lot about The Dragons' Stones and The Dragon's Skin . Those are the two WIPs that I'm working on the most. But I do have others. From "Lady Bloodhawk" Simply put, Lady Bloodhawk is the story of a monster learning to be human. During the next two centuries, America will take part in three more world wars. Part of the war effort of World War Five is the perfection of experiments begun in World War Four. The result is scientifically engineered human soldiers. Created by Dr. Edward Xavier Zirya, they are called Exziryans in his honor. Dr. Zirya trained his creations at family property in the Rockies. The Exzyirans helped America win World War Five. Afterwards, Dr. Zirya died, but his assistants continued his work. The family property was left to the Exzyirans themselves. They then formed their own society where military
